Let’s Create – Craft Studio Addition

For the crafty bunch, today we are going to share with you how you can make a dream craft studio in your home! Whether this is in a study, spare bedroom or garage, we will help make this your dream.

Firstly, in your craft studio, you want to think about storage. Crafting is one hobby or job that takes up a lot of space. With lots of different tools and materials needed for every type of craft. So, you really want to consider storage, and how you can make the most out of your area! We would recommend clear drawers, this makes it easier for you to be organised and see what is inside!

You will also need to consider a space for you to work. Most commonly desks or tables are used. We recommend using a desk as this is more likely to come with extra storage that you need.

Let’s Create – Walk-In Closet Edition

Walk-in closets or walk-in wardrobes are becoming increasingly popular amongst homeowners. With people choosing to create their own walk-in wardrobe in their spare rooms or having an extension to provide this space. But, how can you create a dream walk-in closet?

Creating a dream walk-in wardrobe can be an extremely daunting process. You may find that you are overwhelmed by all of the different choices you have, and all the different considerations you need to think about. So, today we are going to share with you how we would create the dream walk-in closet.

You should always start by thinking about what is actually going to be going into your walk-in closet. We know you are probably thinking, well it will just be all my clothes, but you need to be more specific. Knowing exactly what is going in will help you decide on storage. For example, you will need railings if you have lots of clothes to hang up. Or you may need more drawer space if you are someone who prefers to fold their clothes.

Once this has been decided upon, you can start thinking about the layout. What layout of the clothes would work best for your needs. Will it be colour coordinated, or ordered by their style?

We would also consider how large our walk-in closet is going to be. Our dream would be large enough to host a vanity desk so our morning routine including getting dressed and doing our makeup can be complete in one area. We would also have a very large mirror across one wall, so seeing our outfits would never be an issue.

Remember, everybody’s walk-in wardrobe dream will be different. There are so many options you can choose between to help make your dream a reality.

Enjoying Crafts From Home

Taking up crafts from home is an enjoyable and relaxing pastime.  Whichever choice of craft you will be needing to find somewhere within your home to store your equipment and supplies and a comfortable place to craft from.

If you are lucky enough to have a spare bedroom or office space, setting up your crafting space will be easy, however, if you are limited for space and need to set up an area within your living room or bedroom, you may find a cupboard is your best option for storing away all your supplies rather than open shelves. If you require a tabletop to craft on, a good option is a small console table. These tend to be thinner than a desk and can be multi-functional as when the top is not in use for crafts, you can place a lamp, vase of flowers and have a permeant mirror placed above it will give a tidy appearance.

Let’s Create – Home Office Edition

Next up on our ‘Let’s Create’ series is home offices! Now, home offices have become increasingly popular over the past year. With many office workers needing to work from home, it has become ideal to have a space they can call their own working office in the comfort of their own home. We all know office workers are slowly being allowed back in the office, some of us still want to partake in hybrid working, meaning we will still require a home office.

So, how can we create the perfect home office for our days working from home?

Comfortable Office Chair
If you are creating a home office where you are going to be working from, it is important that you consider your comfort. This starts with where you will be sitting. Purchasing a comfortable office chair is key for having a home office that you want to be in.

Desk with Storage
Now, you are also going to need somewhere to work on. The best option for this is to have a desk. A desk with storage would be amazing as we are sure every office worker knows, you can never have too much storage for your paperwork and office supplies.

What Colour Scheme?
When creating a home office, you will also need to consider your colour scheme. Now, this will depend upon how you want to feel when you are working in your home office. If you want to feel more relaxed, darker colours will work better for you. Whereas, if you want to feel inspired and lively, light colours will work best.

In your home office, you should consider incorporating lots of inspiration. The best way to do this is by hanging up a corkboard where you can pin any images that will inspire you to work.

Let’s Create – Playroom Edition

Let’s start a ‘Let’s Create’ series within this blog! This series is going to based all around creating the perfect areas in your home. The first post is going to be all about creating the perfect playroom!

Playrooms are a much-loved room by all children and parents alike. A room for children to have all their toys in one area. A room with multiple uses, but what do you need to create the perfect playroom?

Storage Galore!
One of the first aspects you need to consider when creating a playroom for your children is storage! You will need storage galore in a playroom. Ensure there is enough storage for all of their toys to ensure the playroom can easily be tidied away when finished with. One of our favourite pieces of furniture for storage in playrooms is Kallax units!

Consider Your Children’s Ages
You should always consider the ages of your children when designing them a playroom. Of course, children of different ages will require different things in their playroom. For example, children of school age may want a desk to complete any school work. Whereas younger children would prefer it to be highly focused on toys galore, making it fun for playtime.

Will You Need A Desk?
A commonly asked question is always whether or not you will need a desk in your playroom. We will always recommend you having somewhere for your children to sit either at a desk or table. This makes the perfect area for children to complete arts and crafts. It does not just need to be used for school work.

Colour Scheme
The colour scheme you choose for your playroom is extremely important. You want something that will make the room fun, yet still, run with the theme of your home. It is always good to get children involved in decorating a playroom so they are ready to play in it.

Storage Solutions For My Home

When purchasing a home you can see all of the space. All of the endless opportunities within the home. But once the furniture starts being added into the home, the rooms become smaller, storage space becomes less and less. This is why we are going to share with you some simple storage solutions. Helping you to make the most of the space in your home.

Floating Shelves
One way to make the most out of the space in your home is by considering using the walls. There is so much you can do with your walls, with one of the most common choices being floating shevels. These shelves provide you with space to store some of your smaller items which you may want to have on display. For example, they are perfect for photoframes.

Kallax Unit
Another popular choice for a simple storage solution is Kallax Units. This is a unit that is made up of many squares, with the most common numbers being 4 or 9. These can then be used to store your items in. You can also purchase doors, drawers, and storage boxes for them, helping you to hide away some of the clutter.

Drawers In Wardrobe
One thing people always forget about is the empty space at the bottom of your wardrobe. Drawers in your room do not always need to be on display. You can easily purchase a smaller set of drawers for the bottom of your wardrobe. Giving your more storage which is still hidden away, not taking up any extra room.

Corner Units
Corners are one area that are never used up. No one goes and stands in the corner. So why not make the most of this space and purchase some corner units. These will be perfect for displaying some of your own personal items which you wish for people to see.

These are some of our personal favourite home storage solutions. What ideas will you be using in your home? Do you have any favourites we haven’t discussed, we would love to hear them.

What To Consider When Purchasing Furniture For Your Home

When owning a home, one of the first items you need to consider buying is the large items of furniture. The problem with this is that it can be quite a costly process, with most people not realising how expensive these items are. This is why when purchasing furniture you need to consider all of your options.

Firstly, you always need to consider your budget. Seeing how much you have saved for these items, or how much you can afford as a monthly outgoing. This helps you when heading out shopping so you only look at items that are within your budget.

If you do not have the savings to purchase these items, your next best option is considering finance. A lot of companies which sell furniture will offer you finance without credit checks. Meaning you will be able to purchase these items on finance even if you have a bad credit score.

Purchasing Your First Home

Purchasing your first home can be a very daunting process, with not many first time buyers truly understanding what purchasing a property entails. Today, we are going to share with you what buying a property entails and how to make this less stressful.

Firstly, you will need to have a decent-sized deposit saved up. This is normally 10% of the property value. On top of this, you will need to have money saved up for the goods you wish to purchase for your home, as well as money for solicitor fees.

When purchasing your first home you will also need to hire a solicitor. A solicitor will help you with all of the legal documents which need sorting when purchasing your first home.

Finally, the fun part of purchasing your first home is buying all of your furniture. When buying larger items like sofas or a table there can be a long waitlist so this will need purchasing ahead of time.
